Knock knock!

Yep, it's me. Ummm, hi 👋 Yeah, it's your soul here. Like, I know we haven't spoken in forever, because you've been ghosting me and leaving me on read, but can we pleeeeeeease have a chat about this job that you keep going to each day even though deep down you fucking knowwww it's not what you really want to be doing in your life?

Let's talk. The first thing I want to say is that I see you trying really hard to keep it together, to keep pushing through. I admire your tenacity and willpower. I admire that you are a real go-getter and that you're going after what you want. Another promotion. Another title. A bigger salary. Yes, yes, yes and yes. I'm all for it.

But I really want to talk about what you're doing in order to get that! I see you are putting your own dreams and desires on hold whilst working in a job that you're fucking good at, but in reality, you'd happily leave right now if you thought that you wouldn't lose everything you've worked hard to obtain. What's with that?

Let me call it like I see it: you're working hard on someone else's dream. What's worse, you've been conditioned to believe that this is how you should live. Sacrificing your own dreams and desires has been normalized by many, celebrated even. But are you really going to work that hard to create your so called 'dream life' just so you can one day retire, only to look back on your life and wish you had the courage to follow your heart and soul and do what you actually wanted to do?

You can live however the fuck you want to live. Your life, your choice. But is this the life you actually want? You know you can be successful doing whatever the fuck you want. But there is a unique pathway that will enable you to be successful and fulfilled. That pathway won't have you looking back on your life and wondering if you made the right decisions. That pathway won't have you forcing yourself to get out of bed every morning. It'll have you eager for each day, excited for the journey itself... You'll want to get up and 'work', not just because of the lifestyle it allows you to have, but because you actually LOVE being there. Imagine that?!

In light of that, here are some questions for you:

  • Do you really want to wake up each day denying your own dreams and desires so you can have a life that looks good from the outside?

  • What about the inside? What about the home you live in every single moment of every single day- your mind, body and soul- are you happy with that?

If deep down you already know that your work right now isn't your life's work, that is, it's not exactly how you want to be spending each and every day, then you are, in effect, on the precipice of change.

You have three major options:

  1. change nothing

  2. quit your job -let go of the soul-destroying work and go all in on what you want to do, or find what you want to do (if you haven't identified that already).

  3. stay employed -and start the side project that lights you the fuck up.

Option 1 Well, you've tried this method, and how you feel now is an insight to a downhill slide, which is coming if nothing changes.

Option 2 is better geared to people who are in a financial position to support themselves for six months or more. Other people recommend 'burning the boats', so to speak, but you really do not want to be in a space of stress when going all in on your dreams!

Option 3 is a better choice for people who may not have as much cash behind them, but have the desire and willingness to start doing what they actually want, and finding out the pathway to get paid to do it.

You can navigate this journey on your own of course, but if you would like support from someone who has navigated this journey, and can help you tap into your purpose and identify the pathway forward that is unique for you, then I would love for you come and play in back on track.

back on track is your support system into getting paid to do what you love. It will help you find your purpose and build a soul-aligned career on your own terms, whilst prioritizing your mental health and physical well-being. No more burnout! No more drinking to cope. No more forcing yourself to get out of bed every day...
