The Invisible Compass: Trusting The Pull You Can't Quite Explain.

That voice inside you isn’t crazy — it’s your soul trying to get a word in. If your life looks great on paper but feels empty inside, this one’s for you.

That gentle nudge.
That inner voice that's calling out for more.
Not more of what you already have, but more...

Life. Heart. Soul. Passion. Play.

You are guided by it. It's the voice that just won't go away. It's the consistent voice deep within. The calm, patient voice. It's the voice that only usually uses a few words to convey it's message.

"Leave your job."
"Move cities."
"Start that business."
"Do not eat another slice of that chocolate cake!" (OK, not that one. But also, maybe that one!) 😜
"Put your art out there"

It often doesn't make logical sense, because it's message usually disrupts the perfectly curated plan that allows you to retire early, or at the very least, retire with a safety net and a knowing that you're going to have enough money to see out the remainder of your life. It's message is usually a death to your safe and secure life, and an invitation into the unknown, which simultaneously welcomes feelings of uncertainty, fear and doubt. I mean, why would you listen to that voice?

"That voice doesn't know what's best for me!" I hear you say.

Interesting. But do you really know what's best for you? I mean, if you look at your life, can you say with 100% conviction that you love what you get to do each and every day and how you do it? So much so that you wake up and think of nothing else that you'd rather be doing that going to work in the exact role you're in right now? Sure, you may have your career goals set out, and you're working hard to climb the ladder. But, is it even your ladder?

Or is it a ladder that really only looks good on LinkedIn?

That voice deep within is trying to lead you towards something. Something that doesn't involve you sacrificing yourself for 40+ hours a week so you can have a life that looks good on paper, but is actually devoid of any real passion and purpose. Yes, you're fucking good at what you do. Great even. Maybe even celebrated. Maybe you even have a beautiful certificate to show how much you know. Possibly even an award or two. But, does it actually inherently matter to you?

That voice inside you isn't going away because it can see what you can't see. It can see beyond the busy-ness of your mind that you've conditioned yourself to live within, which is nothing more than a beautifully designed cage that you've taught yourself to love. Most of the world also lives inside their beautifully designed cage too. The lavish lifestyle and the allure for more being a signpost that you're on the right track.

But are you though? Do you feel settled? At peace? Do you feel incredibly happy when you wake up in the morning before you sit down with your iPhone, a double shot latte, and a swarm of emails that demand your attention? Or is this just a day-to-day activity that you've conditioned yourself to 'love', all because the very thought of leaving behind what is known and familiar and safe and secure for something that has no guarantee of working out is... Foolish? Stupid?

Here's what you can't see (and perhaps what you don't already know).

That voice inside you (the one that doesn't go away, the one with the consistent simple message). Yep, that one. That is the whisper of your soul. Your soul knows what you want, for it is connected to the all-knowing aspect of the Universe itself, and it knows your potential, your ability, and can see the possibilities that are available for you if you would just heed it's call. It knows you can be successful doing anything you want. It can see that your "I love my job" is nothing more than a conditioned response to keep you safe and secure, so you don't interrupt this whole game plan for your life that is slowing eating away at you.

It also knows that you are capable beyond measure.

It knows your heart, your passion, your talent, your willingness.
It knows your determination and commitment.
It honours you and wants the best for you, much like a child who begs Mummy and Daddy to stop fighting.

Because the truth is... You're kind of fighting yourself.

Your mind is leading your way and your soul has been forced to take a back seat because that disrupts the carefully curated plan for your life. But how's that working out for you?

Is your mind a beautiful space to live in? Or do you need a weekly therapy session, a prescription and a bottle of wine to help you cope? Nothing wrong with any of these things, but if you need them? It may just be a sign that life you're living, and the way you're doing it...

It's not cutting it.

And if that voice is guiding you away from your current role and into something that actually feels exciting for you? Perhaps it knows something that you don't know. Or at least something that you are unwilling to truly look at... This voice is inviting you, calling you, patiently waiting for you to say yes. Yes, to a life that excites you even on Monday morning, not a life that you simply look forward to from Friday afternoon. This voice is like an open hand, welcoming you to the first step, and willing to give you the next step when you just heed it's call. Because this voice. Your soul...

It can see your struggle.
It can see how you live inside your mind (and secretly hate it).
It can see how you've designed everything in your life to be beautiful and great and lovely.
It looks good.

But it doesn't feel good.

It's missing something.
Something you can quite put your finger on.
Something that no money can buy.
Something that no amount of drugs, alcohol, one-night-stands, paid-for-work-trips or coffee's from your favourite barista can measure up against.
That no amount of overseas holidays, items of clothing, long lunches or one-of-a-kind-experiences can satisfy.

These are all wonderful experiences of life. But without you following this inner voice, they only serve as a distraction to temporary silence the emptiness that you feel deep within. An illusion that makes you believe your life is better than it actually is.

Because your life isn't what you have, what you achieve or what you do.

It's who you are being.

You are life itself. And you're sacrificing yourself (aka 'your life') so you can... play it safe?

Aren't your dreams worth more than that? Isn't this life worth going after? Playing full-out and seeing what's possible? The thrill of the journey, the joy of being child-like again and actually having fun! Much of the world has been taught to do that once the work is done. Once the shoes are kicked off at the end of the day, and the weekend or the holiday begins. But the real magic of life is when you put fun first.

When what you do each and every day is literally your most favourite thing ever.

You can make money doing what you want to do, but it requires your willingness to take the first step. And I cannot, nor can anyone, give you the roadmap for your life. I can inspire you. Guide you. Encourage you to listen to that voice.

But you? You gotta make the decision. You gotta dig deep and courageously say yes. Because leaving behind what is safe and secure is a big deal. It's fucking scary. Stepping into the unknown without any guarantee? Petrifying!

But is it worth it? OMG yes.

But you gotta start backing yourself. Reach deep within and recognize your potential. Explore your talents. Celebrate your unique skill set and view of the world, knowing that you have been gifted with something more valuable than money can buy. It's really up to you if you say yes to find out what that is, or if you take it to the graveyard with you, wondering what life could have been like if you had chosen to follow your heart and soul.

Because this life? It's yours.
Do what you want with it.
You really do get to choose.
But what are you choosing?

I love you
