Why I Don’t Work Hard Anymore (And Why You Shouldn’t Either)

Feeling burnt out, disconnected, or like you're constantly “pushing through”? This blog unpacks why ditching the hustle mindset changed everything for me, and how working easy (not hard) brought clarity, energy, and a whole lot more peace. If you're a high-achieving human chasing success but quietly falling apart inside, this is your wake-up call.

I don’t “work hard.”
I work easy.

And this might sound like a play on words, but hear me out for a moment.

Many of us have been taught to work hard like it’s a badge of honour.

But those that champion this, more often than not, are either edging on burnout, drinking more than they’d like, sitting with anxiety they’d rather not have, or in a position worrying about the future and ruminating over the past.

I rarely do this.
I know, this really does feel like a superhuman trait.

But I want to share this:
My work is EASY because it fucking flows, it pours out of me. I am so lit up by what I get to do and how I get to do it that my 'work' is legitimately my favourite thing in the world.

And... I took a few days off last week because I felt I needed a moment. And I’m back with oh so much fire.

I didn’t spend it watching Netflix, scrolling social media, or ticking off odd jobs. I didn’t go out for drinks and wake up with a hangover and count that as ‘time off’.

No. I actually rested.
Like, properly.

I gave my body and mind the stillness and space it needed.

And here’s the thing, I don’t just allow myself to do that…
I feel completely at home doing that.

Because when my mind or body needs a pause, I honour it, so when I come back, I come back clear, energised, and ON FIRE! 🔥

I don't need a holiday to recover from my holiday. Or need more time off. No. I rest and rest well, and come back excited for everything I get to work on.

Here’s the point…
If your head is a mess,
If you’re “pushing through,”
If you’re counting down the days until your next holiday so you can finally relax...

Perhaps it's time you start prioritizing yourself and what you actually need.

N.B. It will rarely be something found on your to-do list.

I know that checking things off feels good and helps you feel more at ease. But here's the thing: you're subconsciously teaching yourself that your rest has to be earned. First of all, it doesn't. That's a lie that we've unconsciously bought into. Secondly... has your to-do list ever been completed? Have you ever had time to truly rest?

Didn't think so.

Understand that the work is never done and there will always be more to do. It's a beautiful part of life. The real secret is prioritizing down-time so you can feel at ease and at peace while you do it all. But that can only happen when you take time out to truly nourish your mind, body and soul.

It's a new approach, and it takes some getting used to, especially when you've been on the go for years, maybe even decades. But it will help long-term.

Your health will improve. Your thoughts will slow down and lose their pulling power. You won't get sick as often. You won't be stressed as often or as much. You actually find you can do more from a calm state.

And your nervous system will love you for it.
